Excitement filled the air on Monday, August 25, as the Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science celebrated the Doctor of Optometry Class of 2029 at its annual White Coat Ceremony. This significant milestone marks the moment our doctors-in-training receive their first white coat – the universally recognized symbol of a health sciences professional.
Students received a welcome from Dean Bentley, Dr. Mika Moy, Dr. Lillian Wang, and AOSA student trustee, Ashley Robinson (Class of 2027), and participated in the recitation of the Berkeley Optometric Oath. The celebration marked not just the beginning of their clinical journey, but the start of a lifelong calling to care, serve, and make a difference as the Class of 2029 steps into their future.
