Despite Optometry Meeting 2020 being cancelled, we were still able to host our first virtual UCB Quiz Bowl competition! It was encouraging to see our Berkeley Opto family in their Cal gear (and their super cool virtual backgrounds) cheering on our brilliant contestants:
Class of 2021: Vivian Yao, Joanna Toner, and Kristina Lin
Class of 2022: Camellia Lee, Tyler Spilman, and Phoebe Lo
Class of 2023: Yanan Wang, Peter Ji, and Sam Kim
Our top three contestants were:
- 1st place: Joanna Toner (2021)
- 2nd place: Tyler Spilman (2022)
- 3rd place: Kristina Lin (2021)
Congratulations!! Joanna Toner will be representing us at the national Quiz Bowl which will happen virtually some time in June. More details to come later.
We had 162 people in attendance, including our awesome MC and judges: Dr. John Corzine, Dean Flanagan, Dr. Mika Moy, and Lucas Wilson (class of 2020). ~$400 was given out in raffle prizes thanks to our sponsor, Essilor! It was a night full of fun and laughter, and it brought some normalcy during this challenging time.
