Society of Hellman Fellows Fund Award Winner

Professor Emily Cooper.
Congratulations to Assistant Professor Emily Cooper!

On May 12, Chancellor Carol Christ approved an award in support of Assistant Professor Emily Cooper’s research proposal, A Bayesian Model of Visual Impairment, from the Society of Hellman Fellows Fund.

The Society of Hellman Fellows Fund was created by a generous gift from the late Mr. F. Warren Hellman, a distinguished alumnus and friend of Cal, and his late wife Chris Hellman, to support early career faculty who have shown evidence of their promise for distinction in research. In recent years, their children expanded the program at Berkeley by creating an endowment and inviting other donors to participate, establishing the Society of Hellman Fellows.

Professor Cooper’s research will be supported by The Fund, in the amount of $52,853. We, at the Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science, are proud to congratulate Professor Cooper for this high honor. We wish Professor Cooper great success with her research!
