The Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science recently welcomed alumni to the Faculty Club for its annual Silver Bear Society Luncheon, a cherished tradition honoring graduates who reached the milestone of 50 years or more since graduating from Berkeley Optometry.
This year’s event formally inducted the Class of 1976 into the Silver Bear Society, celebrating five decades of leadership, service, and contributions to the profession. Dean Sharon Bentley recognized the important role Silver Bear alumni continue to play in shaping the future of the School through their mentorship, advocacy, and philanthropy. Guests also heard from Dr. Angela Shahbazian, who shared highlights from her work at the West Oakland Community Clinic and the School’s ongoing commitment to community impact and access to care.
