Liza Shevchuk, MS
Liza (pronounced LEE-za) was born in Anapa, Russia, and immigrated to the United States with her family when she was less than a year old in search of a better future. She is proud of her Russian and Ukrainian heritage! Liza grew up in Antelope, California, and graduated from UC Berkeley in 2020 with a BA in Anthropology. She joined our communications team in 2022 and earned an MS in Communication from Purdue University in 2025.
As Communications Coordinator, Liza supports a wide range of marketing and communications initiatives, including website coding and maintenance, social media management, newsletter production, writing, photography, design, and assistance with magazine production. She also serves as the Communications Representative on the school’s Council for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). In 2023, she joined Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) on their annual trip to San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, helping provide free eye care to communities in need.
Outside of work, Liza enjoys writing and producing music, attending concerts, dancing, and hiking!
