This October, School of Optometry Filipino/a/x-identifying faculty and staff participated in the first campus-wide acknowledgement and celebration of Filipino American Heritage Month (FAHM). Some members of the group were able to attend a community kick-off lunch for UC Berkeley’s new Filipinx Faculty and Staff Association, which has grown to over 150 members since launching at the beginning of the month.

This year marks historic firsts for campus institutions to uplift the Filipinx community via events, exhibits, and digital archives honoring FAHM — to learn more, check out the email from Dania Matos, Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion, sent campus-wide earlier this month.

For more information about the Filipinx Faculty & Staff Association or to get involved, contact Catherine McChrystal at:

Mabuhay and happy FAHM from your colleagues!
