The American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) is the national optometric students association that represents all optometry students across the nation, with a mission to empower students to thrive as doctors of optometry.
Third-year OD student, Melissa Rezk, who represented Berkeley on the national AOSA Board of Trustees, was elected as the Secretary on the AOSA 2023/24 Executive Council, where she, along with 3 others, will be representing optometry students in the USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Second-year OD student, Isabel Groth, will be taking over the AOSA Trustee position on behalf of our school. Congratulations Melissa and Isabel!
“Almost two years ago, I was blessed enough to be elected as Trustee on behalf of the University of California, Berkeley, Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry and Vision Science. This role has truly been one of the most remarkable experiences. No one could have prepared me for the blessings of meeting the most exceptional individuals and the impact they were going to have on my life. I have had the honor of working with some of the most brilliant, passionate, inspiring student doctors and have seen the incredible influence they have at each of their schools. Isabel Groth will be taking over the Trustee role for our local chapter and I am looking forward to seeing all the great things she will accomplish for our school.I am excited to announce that I will be continuing my AOSA journey as Secretary of the national AOSA Executive Council, where I will be representing the voice of optometry students across the USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico alongside three amazing individuals. I am truly blessed to continue to ’empower students to thrive as doctors of optometry.’ – Melissa Rezk
