Monterey Symposium 2019

Monterey Symposium is a 3-day event held by the California Optometric Association. This year it was held at the Monterey Conference Center on the weekend of November 15th. Over 600 ODs annually meet in Monterey to participate in world-class education, networking, and an exhibit hall that showcases optometry’s latest products, techniques, and services.

A number of our very own opto-bears attended and we wanted to include some of their experiences with you!

Kevin La, Class of 2023 (second from the left): “Monterey Symposium 2019 was my first and probably will be my most memorable CE event. I had a wonderful time spending it with my classmates, meeting doctors, and learning about all the new technologies out there for optometry. I still cannot believe I won the grand prize money, and I am looking forward to another big win at my next CE event!”

Micah Sarmiento, Class of 2022: “Therapeutics. Glaucoma Treatment. Laser Surgery. Only in the past 30 years did optometry transform into the profession it is today. I got to pay it forward at the California Optometric Association’s annual conference in Monterey by giving my testimonial about student involvement in our successful Legislative Day in Sacramento. I learned a lot about dry eye and met a lot of cool docs.”

We are happy to be learning so much about what is new in optometry and we look forward to next year!
