Join us for a 4-hour, online continuing education series focused on uveitis care with speakers from the Francis I. Proctor Foundation for Research in Ophthalmology at UCSF and the University of Houston College of Optometry. Our speakers will provide an overview of uveitis, a 2-hour uveitis grand rounds session, and a case-based evaluation of posterior uveitis and its treatments. Case-Based Evaluation of Posterior Uveitis and Its Treatments

This course reviews posterior inflammatory retinal disease, specifically covering white dots syndromes, other inflammatory diseases and vitreous, infections and autoimmune conditions affecting the retina. The course and treatment options will be included. Cases of patients will be discussed from a perspective of diagnosis and management. Dr. Harrison will discuss the different infectious and non-infectious posterior uveitis, white dot syndromes (specifically as a subset of non infectious posterior uveitis), and treatments and co-management of these conditions.

Going Viral with Uveitis

This course will cover diagnosing and proper treatment of common viral uveitides, including Herpes Simplex Virus, Herpes Zoster Virus, Cytomegalovirus, and more rare viruses such as Rubella. Participants will be able to understand the symptoms and clinical signs associated with viral uveitis in order to facilitate a correct diagnosis, get an overview of the latest techniques in laboratory testing for viral uveitis, and learn proper treatment and prophylactic dosing for viral uveitis.

Continuing Education Credits

Four CE hours will be available for the full, COPE-accredited Uveitis Care Series. This program will take place via Zoom webinar. Attendees will be able to interact with the speaker and ask questions in real-time via Zoom video conference. The program will be considered a “Synchronous Virtual” course format by COPE per their 2023 guidelines, and post-course tests will not be required.

This activity meets the live, interactive CE coursework requirements of the California State Board of Optometry. Depending on your state board requirements, the “Synchronous Virtual” course format type may or may not be counted as ‘Live’ credit. Attendees should verify with their state board if this type of online, interactive webinar will count towards live CE credit.

Please note: Partial attendance of a COPE course does not count towards COPE CE.
