Description: David Grant Medical Center Optometry Clinic
Travis AFB has a busy optometry clinic within a regional medical center setting. Patients seen by the Optometry Clinic are primarily routine exams and contact lens services but include a lot of diabetics, acute and therapeutic cases as well. Patients are drawn from active duty, family of active duty, and retired Department of Defense populations. Age range is from infant to geriatric. Full-scope optometric care is delivered within the clinic and necessary ancillary testing and consults are coordinated/ordered by Optometry as needed. Because David Grant Medical Center is a regional medical center, most patient care is available in-house.
Rotations
Interested students may have an opportunity to observe surgical cases, both refractive and cataract surgeries performed by our Ophthalmology Department. Additionally, we have an agreement with our Hyperbaric Medicine Department to allow interested students to tour their facility.
