We are proud to announce that our resident, Dr. Cade Oost, has been selected as the 2024 recipient of the Bill Mattingly Memorial Low Vision Scholarship. Dr. Oost is the Ian L. Bailey Low Vision Rehabilitation Resident and a 2023 graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry; where he earned an OD as well as an MS in Vision Science for his research on cone function in patients with retinitis pigmentosa.
Dr. Marlena Chu, Chief of Low Vision Services, shared the following congratulatory message in honor of Dr. Oost’s award.
“As we know, Cade is so well deserving of this prestigious award. He has been an invaluable member of our love vision family from day one, seamlessly integrating into Berkeley low vision care by excelling in patient management, motivating and teaching our interns, and supporting and inspiring all of us. I believe he represents the best in all of us, as I described in his LOR for this award, ‘Cade has the curiosity and passion of Ian and Bill, the critical intelligence and drive of Susana Chung, and sharp wit and infinite patience of Robert Greer.’I am so thrilled, so proud, so excited for Cade, and for what his future will bring. I know he will represent Bill and his low vision mission to its highest level.” – Dr. Marlena Chu
