Bill Mattingly LV Scholarship

Alisa Molina.
Congratulations to fourth-year optometry student Alisa Molina!

Fourth-year Doctor of Optometry (OD) student Alisa Molina, has been awarded the 10th Annual Bill Mattingly Low Vision Scholarship! Alisa’s passion for low vision was evident from her earliest days at Berkeley, beginning with her enthusiastic interest in low vision patient care inspired by Dr. Melissa Chun at the Jules Stein Eye Institute. In their third year, Alisa and her classmate, ThuVan Nguyen, turned their vision (and the vision of many low vision faculty members) into reality by founding the Berkeley Optometry Low Vision Student Club, now flourishing in its second year.

Alisa will continue pursuing her passion at Western University under the mentorship of Berkeley graduate Dr. Serena Sukhija. The Bill Mattingly Scholarship honors Bill’s invaluable contributions to the Berkeley Low Vision Clinic, particularly his work alongside Drs. Ian Bailey and Robert Greer in advancing the understanding of low vision device optics. Alisa joins a distinguished lineage of Berkeley graduates, residents, and faculty who have been honored with this prestigious award.
