An Update on the UAW Strike on Campus

The UC Berkeley Campus.
Members of the UC Berkeley community should expect to see strike action on campus.

Monday, November 14th, marked the beginning of a UC-wide, open-ended strike by the United Auto Workers (UAW) union, aiming to raise the minimum salary for postdoctoral scholars, academic researchers, academic student employees (teaching assistants/readers/tutors), and graduate student researchers.

Picketers have been marching across campus with their signs, and forming picket lines at some entrances to the campus and buildings. The strike is open-ended, meaning there is no set end date. We encourage all members of the Berkeley Optometry & Vision Science community to read our university’s official update, which includes more information on what to expect during the UAW strike.
