The following is a list of recommended courses at this institution that will fulfill the minimum prerequisites for Berkeley Optometry. Advanced upper-division courses in these subjects may be substituted for any of the lower division courses listed below. Courses have to be taken for a letter grade. Courses for which AP credit was received may be counted as long as they are listed on your college transcript. Our office has updated these courses to the best of our knowledge based upon the school catalog.
- General Chemistry (Lecture and Lab): CHEM 1A, 1AL, 1B
- Organic Chemistry (Lecture and Lab): CHEM 3A, 3AL
- Biochemistry (Lecture only, Lab preferred): MCB 100B or MCB 102
- General Biology (Lecture and Lab): BIOLOGY 1A, 1AL, 1B
- General Physics (Lecture and Lab): PHYSICS 8A, 8B
- Anatomy (Lecture only, Lab strongly recommended): INTEGBI 131
- Human Physiology (Lecture and Lab): INTEGBI 132, 132L or MCB 32, 32L or MCB 136*
- Microbiology (Lecture only, Lab optional): MCB C112 or PB HLTH 162A
- Calculus: MATH 16A or MATH 1A or MATH 10A**, 10B**
- Statistics: STATS 2 or STATS 131A or PB HLTH 142 or MATH 10A**, 10B**
- Reading and Comp: ENGLISH 1A, 1B or Equivalent
- Psychology: PSYCH 1 or PSYCH 2
*Note: One semester of Physiology lab is required in order to complete the prerequisite
**Note: MATH 10A and MATH 10B must both be completed in order to fulfill the Calculus and Statistics requirements
