The following is a list of recommended courses at this institution that will fulfill the minimum prerequisites for Berkeley Optometry. Advanced upper-division courses in these subjects may be substituted for any of the lower division courses listed below. Courses have to be taken for a letter grade. Courses for which AP credit was received may be counted as long as they are listed on your college transcript. Our office has updated these courses to the best of our knowledge based upon the school catalog. Please contact us if you find discrepancies with our articulation; for instance, a change in the course number and title.

  • General Chemistry (Lecture and Lab): CHEM 120A, 120B
  • Organic Chemistry (Lecture and Lab): CHEM 301A, 302A
  • Biochemistry (Lecture only, Lab preferred): CHEM 421 (preferred) or CHEM 423A
  • General Biology (Lecture and Lab): BIOL 172, 273 or BIOL 151, 152
  • General Physics (Lecture and Lab): PHYS 211, 211L, 212, 212L
  • Anatomy (Lecture only, Lab strongly recommended): BIOL 361 or BIOL 191A*, 191B*
  • Human Physiology (Lecture and Lab): BIOL 310, 310L or BIOL 362 or BIOL 191A*, 191B*
  • Microbiology (Lecture only, Lab optional): BIOL 202 or BIOL 302
  • Calculus: MATH 150A
  • Statistics: MATH 338 (preferred) or MATH 120
  • Reading & Comp: ENGL 101, 301 or Equivalent
  • Psychology: PSYC 101 or Equivalent

*Note: BIOL 191A and BIOL 191B must both be completed in order to fulfill the Anatomy and Physiology requirements
