Residency Program Courses

In keeping with our goal to provide advanced clinical education, the residency program at Berkeley Optometry offers courses to enhance the resident’s concentrated clinical experience in specialty areas of optometry.

Graduate General Clinical Practice  (2 units)

Optometry 230A-230B

General optometric practice for four hours per week per credit hour, including optometric examination, dispensing, consultation, and subsequent vision care of patients, performed independently by optometric residents. May be repeated for credit.

Graduate Specialty Clinics. (8 units)

Optometry 231A-231B

Clinical examination of patients in designated specialty clinics. More than one clinical specialty may be taken simultaneously. Four hours per week per credit hour. May be repeated for credit.

Graduate Clinical Rounds (2 units)

Optometry 281A-281B

Presentation and discussion of the diagnosis, etiology, prognosis, and treatment of selected clinical cases. Offered only on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis, and may be repeated for credit.

Graduate Optometry Seminar (2 units)

Optometry 292A-292B

Graduate seminars on selected topics in clinical optometry. Offered only on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis, and may be repeated for credit.

Independent or Group Studies (1 unit)

Optometry 298A-298B.

Directed studies on a selected topic(s) within optometry. May be repeated for credit

Graduate Optometry Research (2 units)

Optometry 299A-299B

Directed research on a selected topic within clinical optometry. May be repeated for credit. (Optional)
