The GA is where delegates of each graduate program at UC Berkeley meet to discuss issues of importance to graduate students, the campus, the community, and how these may affect UCB grad students. The GA creates policies to help define the position of graduate students on particular issues that arise on campus. There are also many academic and campus committees that GA delegates sit on to help the campus see the viewpoint of graduate students. The GA provides funding for graduate student events and clubs, ask your delegates about the process of applying for this funding (occurs at the beginning of each semester). Each department has 1 graduate student delegate for every 100 students in their department, so optometry has 3 delegates and 1 alternate delegate! The GA meets once a month and also hosts events for the graduate student population throughout the year! Any student can attend meetings or events!

Contact your delegate if you’re interested in becoming a delegate or have questions about the GA!
