In this role you will provide professional optometric services in the practice in the Cataract and Refractive Surgery Division with Dr. Kevin Miller in Westwood. You will be responsible of performing complete optometric examinations for new and established patients. Responsibilities include:
-Order and result diagnostic images such as corneal topography, Scheimphlug images, specular microscopy, corneal pachymetry, anterior and posterior segment OCT, special study instruments, etc.
-Function as a medical scribe
-Code and bill for examinations at a level that is appropriate based on documentation recorded in the medical record
-Authorize medication refills through the electronic medical record
-Evaluate and correct glasses prescription errors that arise after glasses are manufactured
-Fill out a variety of patient supplied forms such as those from the Department of Motor Vehicles, Disability agencies, Employment Development Department, Workers Compensation bureaus, etc.
-Perform data entry for the Alcon Optiwave Refractive Analysis (ORA) instrument
-Participate in the identification and recruitment of patients who are eligible for participation in clinical trials
