I am a faculty member at the UCLA Stein Eye Institute. I work primarily in the division of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, but we are looking to expand with a full time Optometrist
Practice Scope:
Cataract Surgery
Refractive Surgery
Comprehensive Ophthalmology
OD Responsibilities:
-General Ophthalmology exams
-Cataract and Refractive Surgery consultations
-Determining candidacy during consultation
-Pre and post-operative exams
-Educating patients on surgery and different lOL options/refractive surgery options
-Answering medication questions
-Scheduling surgical dates
-Sending patient medications to pharmacies before surgery
-Placing and interpreting lab and imaging orders
-IOL calculations prior to cataract surgery
-Reviewing surgery consents with patients
-Full communication between the surgeon and staff in areas of surgical protocol, patient management and medication schedule
-Work with technicians to improve efficiency in testing and patient work up, in addition to ensuring accurate patient refractions
-Ability to work independently and make complex medical decisions
-Make appropriate referrals and maintain good communication with other Ophthalmology specialists
-Interpreting OCT Macula/RNFL, Visual Field, IOLMaster, Lenstar and Corneal Topography
-Answering patient emails, phone calls, and portal messages
-Actively communicates with Ophthalmology, Optometry, support staff to optimize quality and clinical care and services to patients
-Works effectively as a team member and attends and contribute to staff meetings to keep up with events and policy changes
-Maintains all licensing and job requirements
-Maintains compliance with all current organizational, state, and federal regulations pertaining to Optometry

Hours:
8AM – 5PM Full Time
Call / Weekends:
No weekends / evening call or work obligations
Benefits:
UCLA Standard Salary Scale: $100k-$125k depending on experience
