Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing and treating a range of ocular conditions, including dry eye, keratoconus, corneal diseases, and other complex medical cases, while also providing expertise in specialty contact lens fittings for patients with unique needs. This position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse patient population in a legacy practice.
Key Responsibilities
•Perform comprehensive eye exams, including medical evaluations, in a supporting role to the ophthalmologists.
•Diagnose and manage various ocular conditions, such as dry eye syndrome, keratoconus, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and other medical eye conditions.
•Provide advanced care and treatments for patients requiring specialty contact lenses (e.g., scleral lenses, hybrid lenses, and gas-permeable lenses).
•Collaborate with ophthalmologists, surgeons, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.
•Stay current with the latest advancements in optometry, ophthalmology, and specialty contact lens technologies.
•Educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and treatment options.
•Participate in patient outreach and education programs to promote eye health awareness.
Qualifications
•Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
•State licensure to practice optometry (current and in good standing).
•Experience in medical ophthalmology and specialty contact lens fitting
•Strong clinical skills and experience in diagnosing and managing ocular diseases and disorders.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients.
•Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
•Passion for providing exceptional patient care and achieving positive clinical outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
•Residency or specialized training in medical optometry, contact lenses, or ocular disease.
•Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, Nextech.
