Keynote Speaker: Robin Chalmers, OD

Robin Chalmers, OD, is a Berkeley Optometry alumna (’79), and an independent clinical trial consultant in Atlanta where she advises both industry and academic clients. She managed the first FDA-required post-market surveillance study in contact lenses and was Principal Investigator for several contact lens retrospective chart reviews of complications. As a former Adjunct Professor at Indiana University School of Optometry, she was a co-investigator with Dr. Carolyn Begley on clinical trials in dry-eye. She was also Director of Clinical Research with CIBA Vision Corporation, as well as the founding Co-Chair of the Contact Lens Assessment in Youth (CLAY) Study. Her research interests include post-market surveillance of contact lens safety, measurement of symptoms in ocular surface and contact lens wear, and development of patient reported outcomes. Her Thomas H. Peters Memorial lecture, “How and Why You Should Document Ocular Surface Symptoms”, will present valuable information and insight for optometrists.
