Mission Statement

Chartered in 2004, the goal of the Berkeley Optometry student chapter of the American Academy of Optometry is to encourage optometrists-in-training to maintain and enhance excellence in optometric practice through an emphasis on programs that disseminate knowledge in both the basic and applied vision sciences.  The Berkeley Optometry student chapter accomplishes this by promoting the visibility of the American Academy of Optometry (AAO) at the optometry school level.

  2. encouraging attendance to the AAO meetings;
  3. sponsoring programs that disseminate knowledge in both the basic and applied vision sciences to optometry students, residents and vision science students; and
  4. promoting the availability of grants and scholarships available through the AAO and the California Chapter of the AAO.
