Vision examinations are child's play for the Pediatric Resident!
The Resident provides comprehensive vision
examinations in three clinical rotations:
-
Infant, Toddler, and Children's clinic for children from birth to 6 years of age.
-
Special Visual Assessment Clinic for infants, children and adults with multiple disabilities including visual
impairment.
-
Pediatric Clinic for children from 6 to 13 years.
In addition, the Pediatric Resident participates in school vision screenings for preschoolers, kindergarten,
and second-grade students enrolled in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.
Recommendations for pediatric vision care include a vision screening at birth followed by vision examinations
at 9 months, 3 years, and 5 years of age to diagnose and treat significant refractive error, strabismus,
amblyopia, and ocular disease.
