The Berkeley Clinical Scientist Development Program is an NIH-funded, multi-disciplinary research program whose aim is to train clinicians (MD, OD, DDS, DVM, or equivalent clinical degree) in patient-based vision research.
The trainee works under one or more mentors who are from world-renowned departments and research groups on the UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco campuses, including Vision Science, Optometry, Public Health, Neuroscience, Ophthalmology, Infectious Disease, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Health and Medical Science, and Molecular & Cell Biology.
The program welcomes applicants whose initial clinical training would be adaptable to translational patient-based vision research. Qualifying clinical experience would include but not be limited to ophthalmology, optometry, neurology, infectious disease, clinical psychology, cell biology, geriatrics, and genetics.
