The University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry is located near the southeast corner of the UCB campus, housed in two buildings, Minor Hall and Minor Addition; the latter includes the University Eye Center (Clinic).

Minor Hall: Constructed in a restrained Beaux-Arts style in 1941, the building first served as an emergency classroom for US government defense courses during the Second World War. It was named "Durant Hall" in 1942 after Henry Durant, the first president of the University. Optometry was given the building in 1948, but renovations delayed partial occupancy until 1949. In 1952, the name was officially changed to the "Optometry Building," and full occupancy was achieved in 1953. Finally, in 1970, the building was renamed yet again as "Ralph S. Minor Hall," in honor of the school's first dean. Additional remodeling and expansion was completed in 1993 when two new floors of offices and research laboratories replaced the attic. The photo above (facing west) shows Minor Hall at sunset in winter.
The photo immediately below (facing southwest) shows Minor Hall in summer. The Admissions & Student Affairs Office occupies rooms at ground level in the corner nearest the trees on the far right. The building also includes classrooms, the main lecture hall, the Pamela and Kenneth Fong Optometry and Health Sciences Library, administrative rooms, research laboratories, and faculty offices.
