Application Overview: Advanced-Standing Students

Advanced Standing Optometry Students

Domestic (US) Students

Applications for admission in advanced standing to the OD Program will be considered only from applicants who have completed related graduate-level course work, such as MS or PhD programs in Vision Science. Applicants must have completed all prerequisite courses for our OD Program at accredited institutions. The academic achievement level must be at least equal to that of entering Regular-Status students. The application procedures and requirements are the same as those for Regular-Status students, including the Optometry Admission Test (OAT).

International Students

Licensing regulations in the United States generally require licensees to be graduates of US schools or colleges of optometry. Berkeley Optometry offers neither a certificate program nor an accelerated program for graduates of foreign optometry programs. See International Students for contact information for schools and colleges that do offer special programs for graduates of foreign optometry programs.

alert sign The preceding information applies to applicants to the OD Program. Those interested in the Vision Science Graduate Program should see the VS website.
