Speaker Spotlight - Robert Lustig, MD

Robert LustigRobert Lustig, MD, Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Endocrinology, School of Medicine, UC San Francisco, will be the Berkeley Practicum Keynote Speaker. Dr. Lustig is a neuroendocrinologist with special clinical and research interests in nutrition, diabetes, obesity, and the impact of increased consumption of sugar and processed foods. Through his work at UCSF and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, he has studied the role of fructose as a specific mediator of obesity and chronic diseases in children and adults, and addresses the mythology of fat. In addition, Dr. Lustig has authored numerous books and publications, appeared on 60 Minutes, ABC’s Nightline, and NPR, and lectured extensively including a YouTube presentation viewed by six million people. His lecture, “Sugar: The Newest and Bitterest Truth", will present valuable information and insight on nutrition, dietary changes in recent decades, and their impact on the future health of Americans.
